Nothing like starting fresh!
Spring is around the corner and I cannot wait! We are in the midst of a
dreary cold Ohio winter. Top that with bone chilling temps and a pandemic, that's enough to send anyone to the moon. I'm all about creativity to set the mind at ease. For me it is an outlet to keep the crazy out. Once the holidays have passed, I use January and February to get in touch with things around the house that may need a little face lift or take the time to learn a new skill. This past week I decided to update the bathroom on my main floor and a lamp that I have had a love/hate relationship for a few years now. I started with a liquid deglosser instead of sanding and then used Rustoleum Chalk paint in the Charcoal color. I then used a Polycrylic coat to seal it. What do you think? This stuff is easier that you think to work with. Don't be scared, it's almost hard to mess it up!
This old lamp has been in the curbside pile quite a few times over the past few years. But the hoarder in me kept dragging it back out knowing deep down she had potential. I finished the shade with a clearance fabric remnant I found at Hobby Lobby a year or so ago. It turned out ok, but let's just say covering this shape of shade is not for the faint of hearts. But for the finished product, I feel like this old lady is beaming with pride in her new skin! Wouldn't you say??
About two years ago I decided to change up my color scheme from warm browns and oranges to aqua and teal. I love warmer hues but I was starting to get the 7-year itch! The color in my living room is called Intense Teal from Sherwin Williams and it is just that-INTENSE! But I happen to love it! Sometimes when the spring florals have made their way into the local flower shop, I'll grab a bunch of yellow tulips, put them in a cool vase, and plop it down on my coffee table. When the sun hits just right in the room, it brings all sorts of happy thoughts! Pure eye candy!! What's not to love about that? See that little fur ball on my beloved couch find? He's not supposed to be up there, and I busted him to snap this pic! He clearly loves this room as well- he's lucky he's a cutie!!
So hang in there guys! We're midway through February. Eat a few paczki's, make a Valentine card for someone special, have lunch with a friend, give new life to something that needs it around the house or learn a new skill. You'll be happy you did and that the time passed so quickly! Before you know it spring will be staring you in the face!
Much Love to All!
XOXO ~Kelly
